We register U12 players in a Co-Ed bracket, but as determined by registration numbers, we may, on occasion create a single gender team of boys or girls players, but this differs from year to year. NRSA does allow school teams in the U12 Age Group, but it is not required that your child play on their school team.
U12 teams practice twice a week. Practice time and day will be determined by the coach. These practices usually last between 45 minutes to an hour.
U12 teams compete against teams from other soccer associations, most of them located within Hamilton County, including: Redoubt, Middle Valley, East Ridge, and Signal Mountain. Teams play half of their games at the North River Soccer Association and the other half of their games will be scheduled "away".
Please be prepared to travel in town on Saturdays in this age group. Teams will typically play one game on Saturday, although we will schedule a couple of Saturdays with double headers. (See our Make Up Game Info Tab for more details).
U12 games are conducted in a 9 vs 9 format. Each team will compete with a goalie and referees on the field. Coaches will remain on the side-lines. All standard rules of the game will be taught, including off-sides.
Heading is not allowed by TSSA Rules during games in the U12 Age division, therefore heading of the ball will not be taught by coaches nor should be encouraged by parents.
U12 players will use a Size 4 soccer ball.
